Maybe you set some goals for yourself in 2020, but you are not quite sure if you will accomplish those goals. How do you set goals and be good at it? In todays episde, I share one secret I learned to make it through college.
An important aspect of goal setting is to make sure you are committed to accomplishing your goals. According to Houston (2019) quoting Pablo Picasso, no other route to success in accomplishing your goals exist except that we have a goal plan that we believe in and act upon.
What does it mean to believe in your goal? You must not only set a goal, make the goal reasonably achievable, but you must commit to your goal. Committing to a goal means you will undoubtedly increase your self-efficacy and self-confidence in that which you hope to achieve, as long as you desire to achieve your goal.
You can just as easily give up on your goal if you perceive the goal too difficult, so we must revisit our goal, measure where we are to where we want to be, and adjust our goal along the way. That self-confidence comes through persevering through the plan that you set to achieve your goal.
